- GRASP stands for “GLOBALG.A.P Risk Assessment on Social Practices” and is an additional module of the GLOBALG.A.P Standard.
- The GRASP module defines basic criteria for good social practices, particularly for farming companies, and enables farmers to tackle key social issues and increase company awareness.
The GRASP module can only be implemented in countries where a GRASP National Interpretation Guideline has been developed; in Italy, the development of the Guidelines and the translation of GRASP tools involved TÜV Italia as the Italian partner of GLOBALG.A.P and of the promoters of the project, REWE Austria and COOP Switzerland.
The GRASP module is not a certification but an evaluation and applies to organizations that have already obtained the GLOBALG.A.P IFA (Integrated Farm Assurance) or PPM (Plant Propagation Material) certification or are in the process of doing so; it can also apply to groups of producers (the so-called “Option 2”).
In addition to the basic requirements established by the module, the National Interpretation Guideline makes reference to the national regulation applicable to each requirement and provides a tool for GRASP implementation and auditing.
TÜV Italia is a GLOBALG.A.P-approved body and can perform joint GLOBALG.A.P - GRASP inspections through specialized GRASP-qualified auditors.
Our services at a glance
The procedure is based on the principles established by GLOBALG.A.P – GRASP, available for download at the GLOBALG.A.P official website.
After submitting a request, the company implements the requirements specified by the GRASP module and by the National Interpretation Guideline of its country of interest.
Audit planning and conduction
The audit is planned in conjunction with the GLOBALG.A.P audit with an additional percentage of time for GRASP evaluation; the audit is performed on-site and the check list is subsequently stored into the GLOBALG.A.P Data Base.
Should the audit reveal any failures, the inspection body and the inspected company are required to agree on and note down the necessary corrective actions.
Audits are performed annually and are integrated into the GLOBALG.A.P IFA or PPM certification.
